Fine Motor Skills
When your baby reaches for the LULLABY GLOWORM with her hand or squeezes its tummy with her tiny little fingers, she’s building her finger muscles and practicing fine motor skills. These are the small, refined muscle movements your baby needs in order to perform delicate tasks later on. In order to develop these skills, she needs to first master big muscle movements and experience different surfaces and textures. The LULLABY GLOWORM provides plenty of opportunities for both. The more she reaches for and picks up objects, the more practice she gets at developing fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are used for all kinds of activities—from making macaroni pictures to molding a clay creation.

Tummy Time
Your little one needs to spend lots of awake time on her tummy in order to develop strong neck, arm and upper body muscles. Try placing the loveable GLOWORM in front of her while she’s awake and alert on her tummy, and see if she’ll try to move toward it to get a closer look. Providing gentle encouragement to move forward encourages her to become inquisitive and eventually move independently to find her friend.

Language
Language is a complex skill that is learned and refined in many stages. The six sweet lullabies built right into the LULLABY GLOWORM may help promote language development in two ways. First, it exposes young children to a variety of different musical tones. Differentiating between different tones is the same skill that children use to hear the difference between the sounds of letters. When children are older, they can practice singing along with their GLOWORM pal. Want to join the fun? Playing with your child can boost her learning, and it gives her more time to bond with you! Try these simple tips to enhance your child’s play experience:
- Touch the different facial parts of LULLABY GLOWORM and name them as you go. Then touch your baby’s face and say them to her: Eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, chin, etc.
- Rub the LULLABY GLOWORM on your baby’s bare skin so she can feel the soft texture. She learns through multisensory experiences, so every opportunity she has to experience a new sensation is a good thing!
- Show your baby how pressing the tummy of the GLOWORM produces soft, gentle lullabies and a glowing face. This teaches her to anticipate and predict what might happen when she mimics your actions.
- Pretend to put the GLOWORM to bed, following the same rituals you use when you put your infant down to rest. Rock the toy to “sleep,” sing it a lullaby, kiss it on the forehead. This encourages her to play “parent” and bond with her favorite bedtime buddy.
